Donate to the Last Post Fund

Canadians have been most generous throughout the years by financially supporting many of the Last Post Fund commemorative activities. The Last Post Fund is a non-profit national organization and registered charity.  Donations to the Last Post Fund allow the organization to keep honouring our Veterans. When you make a gift to the Last Post Fund, your money helps:

  • Support the Last Post Fund National Field of Honour in Pointe-Claire, Quebec.
  • Create and support other Fields of Honour across Canada.
  • Organize and participate in commemoration activities across Canada.
  • Assist financially challenged Veterans who are not eligible for Veterans Affairs Canada’s Funeral and Burial Program.

Ways to donate

Corporate giving:

Corporate relationships are important to the Last Post Fund. Every year, businesses across Canada provide us with vital funding.  The Last Post Fund encourages businesses to become involved in a variety of ways.  Whether it’s through financial support, equipment donations or even internal outreach efforts through corporate newsletters, we will work with you to ensure the values of your company are withheld through our commemoration efforts.

Leave a Legacy:

You can support the LPF through your estate. By including a legacy in your will, you will be able to make a donation to the LPF on your death which you may not have been able to make during your lifetime. Estate legacy provides an official tax receipt that offsets taxes otherwise payable by your estate, leaving more money to leave to others. Whatever the size of your legacy, by giving to the LPF in your will you will ensure an enduring contribution to Canada's Veterans.

Life insurance, stocks and retirement funds can be designated to the LPF through your will. Please ensure that you designate your legacy to "Last Post Fund". Upon receiving your bequest the LPF will issue a donation receipt to your estate for the full amount of your bequest.

Recent bequest donation funds have been directed to the National Field of Honour for the purchase of equipment and much needed repairs to the Gate of Remembrance (built in 1940).  For more information about remembering the LPF in your will, please call the Executive Director of Last Post Fund at 1-800-465-7113, ext. 221, or contact the executive director by email at jpgoyer@lastpost.ca.

To assist you, here is some additional information and a sample clause which you may wish to consider including in your will and are encouraged to discuss with your legal advisor :

  1. A simple way to give to the Last Post Funds lies in the use of a «General Bequest», or in the Province of Quebec, a legacy by particular title, ie a gift made in your will and paid from the value of your estate to the LPF, an example reading as follows : «To the Last Post Fund, I give the amount of $ ____________ to be used by the Last Post Fund as its Board of Directors may determine from time to time.»

  2. There are other means to give, such as through a «residual bequest» giving the remaining portion of your estate after all other terms of your will have been satisfied,; however, the impact of such other bequests should be discussed with your legal advisor before making your decision.

You may wish to discuss your plan to remember the Last Post Fund in your will with the Executive Director of the Last Post Fund. All information will be held stricly in confidence. Canadian Charity Registration Number: 11900 9181 RR0002
